Headaches & Migraines

There are many different causes for headaches. The job of the osteopath is to ascertain the cause which often evolves from the case history.

Headaches could be caused from poor eyesight and inadequate glasses - a trip to the optician will solve those headaches but the tension caused from squinting can be eased by osteopathy.

Poor posture can cause headaches. Osteopaths treat the body as a whole and give advice on posture and exercises that can reduce muscle tension and eliminate the headache.

Osteopaths are not able to cure hormonal headaches or migraines triggered by food allergies. However, those migraines that have developed from tension headaches will benefit from osteopathy by the reduction in the frequency of migraines and headaches.

Migraines that have developed from an injury, such as a fall from a horse, a road traffic accident or banging the head, often respond well to osteopathic treatment. Therefore it is worth giving osteopathy a go!
